As is my usual practice, I took all my gear to Canon at Elstree to have it matched to the new 5D MK3. Dropped it all off early afternoon Thursday and was very surprised to receive an e-mail at 10.am Monday morning to say that it was ready for collection - which I did in the afternoon. A good service all round although I will have to get round to doing micro-adjusting myself eventually. There are programmes on the web that you can dowload and not too expensive either.
The next day was dull and dreary, just the weather to test the low light capabilities oF the 5D MK3. My 7D is pretty useless at anything over ISO800 so this would be interesting. I concentrated on the common birds coming in to my garden feeders so nothing exciting but it was a good test.
First to visit was a Chaffinch.I was st up with the 500 mk2 lense, the 2x Mk3 converter and achieved 1/200th at ISO 2500.
A blue tit was next at ISO 1250
a Collared Dove
By then, the light was fading again so I was back to ISO 2500 for the Goldfinches.
I had used up my spare time but I was very happy with this test. ISO 2500 is very usable, not that users of the 5D MK3 or the 1DX would find that surprising but this camera is a world away from my old 7D in terns of low light capabilities. I will just have to get used to the full frame instead of the cropped sensor.replica watches
Anyone would like to place a bet that the 7D MK2 will be announced soon, now that I have just bought the 5D MK3?
