Wednesday 9th April 2014

Since returning from Scotland, I have been concentrating on editing and posting the images, with just the odd couple of hours or so at local sites when time allowed.

First of these was 28th March to my local reserve, Fen Drayton Lakes RSPB. Usually nothing to report - I only visit when passing these days but of interest was an Owl Box erected in the middle of a field next to the access road - taken over by a pair of Kestrels. A long distance shot - 500 lense, 2x converter, 5d mk3 and 100% crop but at least it showed that the box was being used. The only problem I can see is that is faces South - rather hot for chicks in the summer www.lightqy.com.

Then over 30 Coot feeding in the floods next to the road further along - one shot showed the peculiar feet

and then, surprisingly a Carrion Crow that posed next to the road - they usually spook when the car slows down

The next trip was a couple of hours at Fowlmere RSPB. A distant Snipe preened and wing-flapped

and some Greylags displayed

Pasing Fen Drayton Lakes again, I called in and found a Grey Heron fishing in the floods by the road www.ecntouch.com

Finally an hour photographing in my garden.

So nothing exciting but some worthwhile shots achieved.
