On Monday, I ventured out to Grafham Water to the west of the county, sun shining, but not expecting too much locally as it has been very quiet on the birding front. Great Northern Diver and Slavonian Grebe had been reported but being able to photograph them would be pure luck.
Arriving around midday, it was too late to inspect the dam area as the sun was in the wrong direction so I went straight to the harbour. The only bird showing was a Cormorant drying itself on the boom that allowed a close approach.
Then a stint in the first hide where the birds were surprisingly close at times due to the high water levels.

A Great Crested Grebe struck an odd pose - perhaps it was asking for it's photo to be taken!!
A Black-headed Gull did an impression of the Angel of the North
and later on, Tufted Ducks started to fly around.
Nothing spectacular but, there again, replica watches I wasn't expecting anything more but enjoyable never-the-less.
