I had already decided that I would spend the whole day at Gilfach Farm NR and arrived at the Otter Hide around 9.15. Surprisingly, I was followed along the reserve access road by a fleet of several cars so I sat down in the hide quickly to get my space.

Chris Gomersall had a party of photographers so I was lucky that I was not later. However, there is always a benefit somewhere - Chris had a large stock of mealworms to attract the birds in - thanks Chris!!!

Once again the male Pied Flycatcher was the first to make an appearance.

Then the male Redstart posed nicely - this was getting to be too easy - not used to such co-operative birds in East Anglia.

Sadly, the Dippers on the stream failed to make an appearance this time- another visit perhaps?

After a couple of hours, I drove to the site office, taking the last available car parking space, with 10 or 12 photographers around - this place is very popular. Not surprising really as the opportunities for photographers are amazing.

One group had set up a small feeding station at the bottom of the car park, attracting Redstarts.

Another group had set up another feeding station at the top of the car park attracting Lesser Redpolls and Siskins

Both groups welcomed me to take advantage of their breitling replica watches feeding stations - my thanks to them

After another session at the hide, it was time to start the long drive home.

With over 2000 images taken, editing down to a manageable number would take time - and it did.

Overall an excellent couple of days. All photographers should take the time to visit Gilfach Farm NR. I feel that I only scratched the surface of what the reserve can offer - a superb place. The RSPB could learn a lot from how this reserve is managed, if their reserves in East Anglia are representative of the rest of the country!!!

One recommendation to any prospective visitors - take a good supply of mealworms. I didn't and my success rolex replica would have been much reduced, were it not for those who did.

There are many more images from this trip, wither in Recent Additions section or under the British & European Trip section.
