After being more or less tied to the house during the past couple of weeks, while the painter was sprucing up the outside paintwork, I decided that I was due a quick trip out for the morning of Thursday 20th July.

So, for something different, I went to Welney WT to test my reaction times (and the focussing speed of the R5) to photograph Swallows and House Martins in flight - always quite a challenge.

First a shot that I like - a juvenile Coot - not always the most photogenic of wildlife subjects.

Then on to the House Martins

intermingled with the odd Sand Martin.

and finally the fastest flyers of them all, Barn Swallows.

Not the most expert shots that I have ever taken but an enjoyable morning never-the-less.
