We were leaving the lodge at lunchtime for the 21/2 hour drive to Budapest airport but that gave us the morning free.
Bibic Nature Lodge in Balmazujvaros is located on the edge of the town overlooking a largish wetlands. It has a large verandah that faced East . This morning, the sun was shining for the first time for a couple of days but, of course, that meant shooting into the sun so results were nothing to get excited about, despite there being loads of distant birds.
A White Stork paraded close enough for a short time..
I took many photos but none were really worth keeping except for a few of a small flock of distant (100+metres) White-winged Terns. I have never really photographed this species in summer plumage so these are really record shots.
And that was the end of the trip. On balance, it was a decent trip but certainly not as satisfying as the same trip I took in 2011 - the quantity of birds did not seem to be there. Much the same as the UK - quite worrying for the future.
