I managed a quick trip out while our visitors were out shopping. Weather dull so not promising.

First call was to the RSPB site at Ouse Fen. I took the Canon R7 and the RF 100-500 with a 1.4 converter for an easy walk - didn't even switch the camera on. Nothing worth photographing - in fact except for a few Greylag Geese, nothing at all.

So on to Fen Drayton Lakes to see if anything was worth turning the camera on for. From the access road, there were a couple of Goldfinches feeding on teasel,

and feeding in the orchard area, a couple of Pied Wagtails. While I sat and watched them, rather too distant for a decent photo, they were joined by first one and then another Yellow Wagtail - my first spring migrant sighting.

They gradually came close enough for me to excercise the trigger finger.

One of my favourite birds so something that made the trip worthwhile.
