Bored stiff, a friend and I decided to try to relieve the boredom with a trip to the RSPB reserve at Frampton Marsh. Strange time of the year for bird photography so we did not expect anything earth-shattering and that proved to be the case.

First event of passing interest was a pair of Lesser Black-backed Gulls that seemed to have upset a Black-headed Gull for some reason - it was bombing them for a good 15 minutes.

Over to the East Hide - the only thing of interest in a couple of hours was a pair of Ruff having a real set-to.

and then a Spoonbill finally woke up and started to feed - slightly distant but worth a shot.

There were lots of Black-tailed Godwits on the reserve. Now, some birds are dead boring - Pheasants, Woodpigeons for example - they never seem to do anything interesting. But black-tailed Godwits - always something of interest to excercise the trigger finger. That is the reason why I have nearly 150 photos of them in my library and this proved to be the case again.

and especially one that flew very close.

So not much expected but some photos worth keeping.
