Last week, I joined a bird photography trip to Finland and northern Norway run by Hugh Harrop of Shetland Wildlife.
I have travelled with Hugh a couple of time before so knew what to expect, not least with England and Wales battling for the Rugby Grand Slam on the day of arrival. Hugh is an avid Welsh Rugby fan and the week started off very badly with England being thrashed - I was not allowed to forget it for the whole week!!!
Anyway, after arrival, the next day was spent at a roadside hotel north of Kaarmanen that is famous for its bird feeders. I took loads of images throughout the whole day and still have not sorted them out but I thought that I would post a few shots for you to see what was around.
A mixed flock of Arctic and Common Repolls was on the feeders virtually throughout making species identification difficult so I have a lot of work to do sorting them out but here is just one that I am sure is an Arctic Redpoll.
The main target was Pine Grosbeaks and, several birds visited throughout the day.
Siberian Jay was a regular visitor
A welcome but not so regular visitor was Siberian Tit
I still have loads of images to sort out for the whole week that will take me a few weeks to complete but this is just a taster of what is to come (I hope)!!!
