Tuesday 30th November 2021

I have just realised that it has been nearly a month since my last post and I am still getting to grips with the Canon R5 and the most appropriate software.

I have been used it twice, once in the garden and once at Dernford Reservoir just south of Cambridge but on neither occasion was there anything worth posting on this website - just common everyday stuff - but at least it gave me some experience of the camera.

The breakthough came just over a week ago. Now that my Lightroom is on subscription, I get automatic updates and the latest, apparently has the Canon colour algorithms for the R5. So I tried it and am quite happy with the results.

Now to the noise problem. A special Black Friday deal gave Topaz Denoise AI, Topaz Sharpening A1 and Topaz Gigapixel as a package for the price of just one. So I bought the package, and plugged them into Lightroom and Elements to fit them into my normal workflow.

First results are very encouraging. Now all I want is a day out to take loads of images to really test the system.

I will keep you posted.
