Yesterday, I returned to Wimpole Hall to see if I could manage better shots of the female Hawfinch, especially perched images. The day started well as on the way there, passing through the nearby village of Barton, a female Kestrel alighted on a roadside post and stayed there long enough for me to stop, park and get the gear on a beanbag on the car window for a few shots before taking off.

At Wimpole Hall, the Hawfinch was very elusive, showing for just a few minutes allowing just a few shots that were barely better than those I have already taken - such is life!!!

No perched shots - might be worth another visit. The words 'glutton' and 'punishment' come to mind.

With the weather changing, I started to make my way home but then noticed a large mixed flock of winter Thrushes feeding in the parkland adjacent to the access road. Worth a few shots.

and even a Green Woodpecker appeared and stayed long enough for one shot.

Overall a satisfying day if none too exciting.
