Last Friday, I decided to visit Fowlmere RSPB for another crack at the hovering Kingfisher. Bitterly cold and frosty but bright and sunny.
The hide was packed with photographers - well 5 or 6 anyway - it seemd packed and the mere was frozen so not much chance of the Kingfisher but a Heron choose a convenient perch to watch the fish, safe under the ice.
A Moorhen tried some ice skating providing a few humorous moments.
A pair of Bearded Tits made a rather distant appearance - not really worth the bother of photographing although they are a rarity for the site, so home for lunch. On the way, just outside the village, a covey of Grey Partridges showed quite well and allowed a few shots before scampering away across the field.
After lunch, I decided to try for the Waxwings again at the nearby village of Oakington - clouds on the horizon so not much time.
A flock of about 30 were feeding on and off on the same bush.
At this time, the light started to deteriorate so time to go home for a coffee and some image editing.
