I wanted to test my new Canon 70-200 F2.8 lense on flight shots, especially with the 2x replica watches Converter attached, so a trip to Snettisham RSPB to try it out on the Tern colonies seemed to be appropriate - weather sunny and bright with little wind - ideal conditions.

Three types of Tern were being reported. Common and Sandwich Terns the most prevalent with a few Little Terns. No Little Terns showed but Common Terns were easily seen fishing in the sea and returning to the reserve to feed a few young that still had not fledged.

Sandwich Terns were flying up and down the reserve

The surprise of the day was a Ruddy Shelduck making an appearance, although distant. Nevertheless, this was my first opportunity to photograph this species so better than nothing.

Nothing else of note as the tide was not particularly high to bring the Rolex GMT-Master II replica waders off the Wash to the reserve but large flocks of Knot were showing in the distance.

Still, a worthwhile day and the new lense proved it's worth.
