The RSPB reserve at Titchwell Marsh, Norfolk can be a very frustrating place to go. Most times, the water levels are just not conducive to attract good birds in front of Island Hide which is the best one for photography. However, the levels have been dropping recently so a friend and I decided to visit again.
The best conditions are late afternoon, early evening, when the crowds have gone. Light winds, jaeger le coultre replica ideally from the West, and sun, to give a clean blue background are pre-requisites - and good numbers of birds, of course. Last Thursday seemed to tick all the boxes.
The usual Avocets were everywhere (over 500 counted at one stage a few days ago).
A good few Lapwings.
and several summer plumaged Black-tailed Godwits posing comveniently
At this stage, it became apparent that several species had moved on - Little Stint, Curlew hublot replica Sandpiper, Spotted Redshank etc so it was a case of enjoying the few species that were there.
and a lone first summer Little Gull that eventually came to feed in front of the hide although, by then, the clouds had arrived so the background was not as attractive as it could have been.
Definitely worth another trip as there is very little worth turning out for in Cambs at the moment.
