My recent local visits have been quite productive - just shows what can be achieved by keeping one's ear to the ground. I have the greatest respect for the 'patch birders' that work their patch day after day with the hope of finding something different or interesting. I do not have the patience to do that but there is no doubt that local 'finds' are almost always reported by the patch birders.
Over the weekend, I heard of a location for Spotted Flycatcher so yesterday afternoon, rolex replica I went to investigate. I parked the car and walked a few minutes to the site with the binoculars, just to check it out. No point in carrying all the gear if there was nothing there - and, of course, as soon as I turned the corner to the site, there was a Spotted Flycatcher sitting out in the open, just waiting for me.
By the time I had returned with the camera, it had disappeared so I waited.
First to appear was a Grey Wagtail
and then the Spotted Flycatcher appeared and started to feed
In fact there was a pair that showed infrequently together but there was one or tag-heuer replica other around for most of the afternoon. With patience, I managed some decent shots on different perches.
Another successful local trip - this is getting to be a habit!!!
