Saturday 6th June 2015

It has been a while since my last update - a family holiday in Turkey was the reason. So I returned fully refreshed and ready for action.

I had been intending to visit the fens around Haddenham to photograph Corn Buntings so last Wednesday morning, 3rd June, I went for a recce. Sunny but surprisingly blustery when I arrived.

First up, by the side of the road was a beautiful male Yellow Wagtail. The wind did not help but I managed a couple of shots that were keepers.

Sure I can do better, I resolved to return when it was not so windy.

The area is good for Partridges, although the usual view is of the rear end as they scuttle for cover. swiss replica watches However, Red-legged Partridge stayed to check me out

and then I noticed a pair of Grey Partridges feeding near a large compost heap. This time they stayed for some shots - unusual for a pair together, with the male keeping a careful look-out.

Corn Buntings were keeping low in the wind so I went home for lunch and then moved on to Fowlmere RSPB late afternoon.

At the first hide, Reed Warblers were flitting around but the first to show rolex replica for a photo was a Little Grebe.

and finally opportunities for the Reed Warblers using the 500 lens and the 2xmk3 converter on the 7DMK2.

Walking to the Mere hide, a Song Thrush was singing well and, although rather distant (2x converter again), I was well pleased with the shots as this has been a long term ambition that has eluded me to date.

With nothing else of note, time to go home after a satisfactory day.
