Thursday 16th April 2015

On Tuesday 14th, I was planning to visit Suffolk but changed my plans at the last minute omega replica and went to Norfolk as there were reports of Ring Ouzels and Dotterel around.

First visit was the cliff car park at Hunstanton - 8 Ring Ouzels were reported there early morning but there was no sign when I arrived. While sunny, there was a very strong south-easterly wind and Fulmars were hanging in the wind over the cliffs so out came the camera - never to miss an opportunity.

I then moved to where the Dotterel had been reported and eventually found 6 of them, hunkered down in the wind and about 200 metres away. Well I tried to get a photo - I have never even seen one before. 500 lens, 2x converter, 7DMK2 and even sheltered by the car and the results were such rubbish that I will not even bore you with showing them. The term 'Record Shot' takes on a whole new meaning!!!

Then back to the NWT reserve at Holme Dunes. My only successful attempt at photographing Ring replica watches Ouzel was there some years ago when I found a very co-operative male that fed around me for half-an-hour. First was a report of a male Redstart that a couple of others had photographed earlier but by the time I arrived, there were too many people around and it had disappeared. My consolation was a first this year of a Chiffchaff.

There were three Ring Ouzels but with loads of people about, they were much too flighty so I drew a blank there too.

I then moved on to Titchwell RSPB where the water level on the freshmarsh was slightly down but still not enough to allow decent shots of waders from Island Hide. Of interest was an Avocet turning cartwheels in the water bathing.

Then Shoveler were displaying and fighting

this was a display

This was the winner of the fight

This was the loser

I had loads of images of the fight but with too much spray to see anything.

A reasonable day overall.
