Yesterday, a friend and I travelled 'up North' well, in Cambs anyway. First stop was Kings Dyke swiss replica watches Whittlesey as there had been reports of a Kingfisher in front of the hide and much reed cutting to show some Snipe. The day was sunny but cold with increasing wind during the day.
The kingfisher showed briefly about 100 yards away and no Snipe showed at all. One of the many Coot patrolled in front of the hide - cannot resist a decent image, even of a common bird.
Then, from no-where, a female Pochard suddenly appeared in front of the hide.
There was some spilt seeds in the water under the feeders. Reed Buntings frequently looked at it but could not work out how to get them - one enterprising female finally cracked it
Finally, two Moorhens decided to start an argument with one rapidly backing down.
At lunchtime ,with nothing happening and the area in front of the hide in shadow, we moved to replica hublot Eldenell, part of the Nene Washes, at the suggestion of one of the locals in the hide. I had never been there before and was surprised at the views from the car park.
A couple of Buzzards were around but never close enough for a shot. A superb male Hen Harrier showed on the other side of the washes - beautiful to see but, once again, too distant.
Near the car park, some Fieldfares were feeding in a nearby tree so I let the 7D MK2 loose on some flight shots
and then a female Sparrowhawk appeared, chasing the Fieldfares but passing within range
I took about 30 shots of it and all but two were in focus - a strong testament to the effectiveness of the autofocus of the camera.
