Friday 25th April 2014

I regret to say that I have not kept up my blog recently- my aplogies to the one reader!!! My trips out have been purely local for no other reason than I have been too lazy to travel, coupled with the fact that I have also had some longish drives visiting family. Anyway, here is a day-by-day account.

Wednesday 16th April 2014 - Ouse fen RSPB for Marsh Harriers and Bittern. The former performed OK.

The Bitterns, (there were 3) kept well hidden but vocal and finally two flew from the reed bed but distant.

Friday 18th April 2014 - a couple of hours in the garden with common stuff. In common with most other photographers, we tend to ignore the common garden birds but this gave me the opportunity of improving my library.

Wednesday 23rd April 2014 - a visit to Fowlmere RSPB to see if there were any warblers showing but only a few with more still to arrive. I spent an hour or so in the main hide where the only activity was from the Cananda Geese - I wouldn't have bothered but there was nothing else to do.

On the way out, I was surprised to see a Brown Hare run from the side of the road and sit in the field watching me - close enough for a photo.

And even more surprising, a pair of Grey Partridges did the same - made a change from the normal rear end shots as they scoot across the fields in the opposite direction.

Thursday 24th April 2014 - back to Ouse Fen RSPB where the Bearded Tits put on a close but rather short display.

Overall a rarther pleasing few days.
