Last Friday, a freind and I visited Minsmere RSPB and Dunwich Heath. rolex replica Will the successes of Wednesday be repeated? Short answer - not really.
We started off at the Sand Martin colony at Minsmere and were very pleasantly surprised to see a special area for photographers, on the same level as the nest holes. Rather more distant than ideal (photogrpahers as a breed are never satisfied) but a quick fit of the 2x converter and I was ready.
After not too long, the birds were posing as they were deciding on the appropriate nest hole.
After an hour or so, we made for the north wall to be greeted by a lone birder saying that he had just seem a Bluethroat. We waited and it showed intermitently and not really out in the open but at least a few record shots. A red spotted variety from Southern Europe.
After it had disappeared for a while we moved on to the hides and - not very replica watches much.
In the afternoon, we tried for Dartford Warblers at Dunwich Heath - two sightings in the distance and that was all - no chance for photography - so we moved back to Minsmere - the Island Hide - for the rest of the afternoon.
A Bittern showed it's head above the reeds for a time and then flew off - nothing to excite as I already have much better images and that was it for the day.
So a complete contrast to the day out two days previously - well that is bird photography.
