After reading about the new Steggels Hide that has been opened at the Suffolk Wildlife Trust reserve at Lackford Lakes, I thought it was time to visit and take the long walk to check it out.

One problem - it was bitterly cold at home near Cambridge and even colder at the reserve - replica watches uk down to -7 overnight - most of the lakes were frozen over with the birdlife concentrated in a couple of small unfrozen areas, far from the hides.

The new hide is very promising, sitting between two lakes and with a strip of damp land in front but not yesterday. One of the locals in the hide said that a Bittern had shown on the far side of the right hand lake and after not too long, it started to show but plainly very distant.

On with the 2x converter, utilising the F8 focusing ability of the 7D MK2 and even replica watches then distant but I was pleased with the end result, despite that.

With nothing more of interest, I went home early but will visit again - as I said, this hide looks promising.
