The remnants of Hurricane Gonzalo produced one rarity to Grafham Water in Cambridgeshire on Tuesday with a Leach's Storm Petrel reported but unfortunately swiftly killed and eaten by a Herring Gull.

Replica Omega Watches

This led me to think that the following day, Wednesday, could produce something else so a trip was in order - totally fruitless in the end. So at the end of the morning, I took a few shots of Rooks in the car park, just to say that I had done something.

At lunchtime, I decided to travel South a few miles to the Lodge at Sandy, the HQ of the RSPB. There is a hide overlooking a small pond and feeders. The only visitors at first were the usual feeder visitors - Blue Tit

and Great Tit

I even took a few shots of a Rabbitt to prevent me falling asleep with boredom.

Three Magpies made regular visits to the perches.

and the usual Great Spotted Woodpecker was also a regular but this time really showed what it thought of my presence

Contrary to the weather forecast, heavy cloud set in late afternoon and most of these shots were taken at ISO2500 - a test for the 5D MK3 that it passed with flying colours. I hope that the low light performance of the Canon 7D MK2 will be comparable. I am really looking forward to getting one as field reports of the beta pre-production versions are quite outstanding.
